Man & Bike as One

I finally got my butt out of bed and went cycling today. All 2600 feet of Black Mountain. And what did I learn today? 1) Trance makes for good work out music and 2) don't go cycling on Valentines Day.

Want to know why I love cycling? When I get on the bike, it feels as if I suddenly become part of it. Like the motor to the car. I feel like a beast. There's no better feeling of speeding through the hills as fast as safety will allow. Saying hi to other cyclists as I pass by actually means, "Cya fatty." I love passing rich kids on expensive bikes. hahaha

And when I get home, my whole body is tingly. I'm in bed now and I feel like I could fall asleep in 2 seconds.

Discrimination

Something very interesting happened to me today. We have grown up learning how African Americans were discriminated against for many centuries by the white man. We hear how the police used to make arrests based on color of skin.

"If you're Black, you probably did something bad. Lets arrest you to be safe."

Naturally we would think that minorities in these unfortunate situations understand how it feels to be discriminated against. They are cautious to not do the same to others, right? Wrong.

So last week in human development class, we got into groups to do a research project. Sitting across from me sat a black dude who was probably 22 or 23. Dressed in oversized clothes, he said with an extremely ghetto accent, "Yo, whos gon write the paper?"

He looked at the asian fob, then at the ghetto white boy, then at the Mexican fob. Finally he looked at me with my dress shirt and black rimmed glasses and said, "Hey, you do it. You look smart."

HONESTLY?! Because I wear glasses, you think I'm smart. Way to prejudge me, man.

Well...at least he was correct. ahahha

Moral of the story? Everyone discriminates.

Chapter 4

Only you can hold the pen that writes your own book. Make sure its a good story.

Nearly 100% of my friends have never attended school at a community college. It is an experience and a lifestyle that is different from what they will ever know. I have made friends with many diverse, real world people and have been given the opportunity to help less fortunate students.
However, I thought going to a community college would open up an exciting chapter of my life. Its not particularly exciting, just extremely different. So far the chapter reads:

Chapter 4: Community College

I attended De Anza Community College from 2008 to 2010. The End.

P.S. I have big plans for chapter 5.

Grand Scheme

"Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life." 500 Days of Summer

Today, I went to work at 8:30 am. Came home and went to eat Chinese food with an old friend. Played guitar, recorded a video and took a nap.

In the grand scheme of things, today was insignificant.
